Social Media Marketing
“Social media marketing” has become a buzz phrase during our times. But still not many companies understand what does it mean, how to benefit from it and especially how to measure the result of their efforts.
I’m not going to pretend to be a GURU. I love this field because it constantly develops and everybody who wants to use it efficiently must learn new things on daily basis. But what is important – you have to have a clear vision of your goals to be able to create social media presence and engaging communication with all stakeholders.
So the first step in this direction is LISTENING and UNDERSTANDING. The major difference between old school PR/advertisement and social media marketing is that the latest works through creation of COMMUNICATION. And if all you know is pushing others to buy your product/service, there is no communication. Active listening would help you
- understand motivations behind customers decisions,
- find ideas about new products,
- analyze success and fail of your competitors campaigns,
- monitor trends and happenings,
- identify influential groups and people in your industry,
- address complains and prevent potential problems,
- research your target demographics,
- audit your marketing efforts
All of this means Quality Engagement with your customers/potential customers and partners. Nobody will be interested in listening your speech if it doesn’t reflect their needs and desires.
If you make this first step, it would be easier to set the goals and create a strategy. Social media offers unlimited number of tools to help you reach your target audience, but you can waste all your time if you don’t have strategy in place which includes on-line and off-line efforts and clear understanding of what do you want to get and how are you going to measure the results.
So I see my task not in just helping you in setting up a website or a Facebook page but in using my knowledge of social media tools and experience in general marketing to create a campaign which would lead to connecting you with your customers and reaching your short and long term goals.
